While we all deal with the effects of Coronavirus (Covid-19), we wanted to keep you abreast of the steps our dedicated team are taking to help ensure your safety and comfort. As always, we are thoroughly cleaning the hotel, ensuring that we focus on high-traffic surfaces – such as door handles, bathrooms, tables, and facilities. We are also deep cleaning each room daily, and hand sanitiser is available in all departments, including on reception. Please use this upon entering the building, as well as washing your hands regularly for 20-seconds as per the government’s advice using our various facilities.

We have spent the last few weeks analysing our operations and have introduced the following 7-point plan to minimise the risk to both our guests and staff alike:

1. Hand sanitiser is available at all entrances of our hotels and restaurants. We kindly ask guests to make use of these additional facilities.

2. All bedrooms are thoroughly deep cleaned, with a particular emphasis on wiping down all contactable surfaces.

3. All toilets and wet areas are thoroughly deep cleaned throughout the day.

4. All credit card machines are wiped down after each transaction.

5. All staff follow personal sanitation procedures prior to starting work and throughout their shifts.

6. Public spaces are deep cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day, and tables are spaced at least 2m apart to allow for distancing in public areas.

7. Any staff member returning from affected areas abroad have automatically been asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

It’s fair to say: we’re in unusual times. It’s understandable if you are feeling concerned or anxious. We want to reassure you that it’s business as usual at The Herd. We are taking every step we can to ensure that this remains a special place that you can escape to. Looking around our restaurant, things are unchanged: the food is as good ever, the atmosphere as buoyant, and hospitality as friendly… If you feel like you need a change of scenery, or you want to indulge with a special dinner at The Herd, we are here to welcome you.

We understand that you may be holding back on making plans, and we want to reassure you. If you can’t make it, you can cancel. Simply give us much notice as you can. If you have an event booked (for over 10 guests or more), please refer to your original booking paperwork and contact us for advice. If you have tickets for an event we are hosting and it needs to be cancelled, we will absolutely refund your ticket.

I have visited a country with restrictions (i.e. Italy) in the last 14 days

You are required to follow UK government advice surrounding any necessary self-isolation.

Should I cancel my booking?

We are currently operating as normal, and there is no need to believe that your visit will be compromised in any way at all. If the Government’s advice changes, we will notify you.

What will happen if there is an outbreak at the restaurant?

If there is an outbreak at The Herd Restaurant we will follow advice from Public Health England. As our guest, you will be asked to comply with any additional screening measures that are put in place. If you develop symptoms, however mild, please follow the government advice.

What will happen if The Herd Restaurant has to close?

We really don’t expect this to happen. However, if we are forced to close by Public Health England, you will be able to amend your booking to a later date.
